Still rendering …… trying to work out how I can replace the stone shelf and disguise the lintels.
Did some work in the dining room area. After pressure washing the walls, they needed pointing before we put up the stud wall to dry line it. I decided that it would be quiocker to render the wall and it would eliminate all the cracks for insects to live in.
We considered the option of using close cell polyeurathane foam insulation direct to the wall. This waterproofs the wall and can be plastered.?á It is just too expensive compared to the cost of dry lining.
We have also build a concrete hearth and I put 2 lintels in the doorway ready for some kind of stone shelf
Here’s a before picture I found…
Autumn’s just around the corner which means so is winter. I am starting to worry about heating so we decided we must get stuck into the dining room half of the cottage. The fireplace will be useable with the woodburner which will create a snug area that we can even use as a lounge in the depths of winter (if all else fails).
First stage is to move the kitchen from where it is to the office – easier said than done, like trying to put a pair of wellies in a shoe box. Got there in the end, minus the sink, washer, dryer and dishwasher which will need to stay where they are for now.
Compact and bijou….(sp?)
