Skirting boards(27Feb10)

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Had a great week – Tony helped me a few evenings during the week plus all day Friday and Saturday. Mary joined us on Friday and helped Sue. We managed to fit all the remaining door frames upstairs, remaining skirting boards, most of the architrave (ran out!) and made a door.

Josh hooked up a temporary satellite dish so that we have TV when we move in (most important!) Sue and the kids cleaned up after me and Tony and arranged the bedroom furniture.

We have managed to acquire?á a washing machine, dryer, 2 single beds, a dresser, two mirrors, 3 table and chair sets, a double bed frame, a bedside cabinet, 2 speakers and 2 portable cd/radios, mainly through the generosity of Tony and Mary’s friends and family.

Think we might open a restaurant with all the tables.?á?á (the tables are actually going to be our temporary kitchen worktops.)

Sue will add some pictures later.

Have been continuing to fix architrave and doors over the last week. Also put a curtain pole up in Josh’s room to see what it looks like – only anther 10 to do.

I was given 11 rolls of loft insulation so brought them up to the house today and finished hanging the door. Sue and the kids spent the day packing and brought a load of Bex stuff up. More to come tomorrow. I tested the electric heaters on low and was surprised how quickly the upstairs gets warm so I think we will be ok if we move in soon.

I finished Josh’s doors today and spent ages sanding frames etc. Managed to hang the bathroom door and should get the main door hung tomorrow and we will almost have a complete room.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!?á The electricity is working. I arrived with the lights already on and the radio blasting away. Twas a miracle. Didn’t have to lug the genny out, top up the diesel, mop up the diesel, connect the jump leads, stand over the exhaust fumes whilst I press the starter and the throttle at the same time, finally get it started, plug in the cable…………I just walked through the door.

Electrician didn’t turn up but I persevered with the doors – have the prototype finished and will use it in Josh’s bathroom. Have started his main bedroom door but having to make it skewif to match the door frame so taking a little longer. (don’t think that’s how you spell?áskewif but it looks kinda kool)
