Dennis worked late yesterday so we had a full day plastering today instead and finished upstairs. I put the tank back in the hot press and we did a bit of tidying up and put some more timber in the mezzanine ready for storing all our junk….In between mixing I also marked the timber for the central heating pipes – need to really get moving now and get the downstairs prepped asap.

Dennis couldn’t make it this eve as he is working late so I drilled the hole for Josh’s loo and did some central heating planning instead.

Dennis plastered the landing half way up the stairs and the hotpress today. We will try and finish tomorrow and Monday eve.

Wow – feels like we made a little progress this afternoon…..Bex and I drilled a hole in the rear wall for the sewerage pipe and connected her loo and ours together. We even tested it it with clean water and all is good – no leaks.

Peters plinth(26Aug09)

Peter finished the plinth for the window in the barn wall today. I also added some photos of the rest of the guttering he put up on the far sides of the barn and cottage.

No plastering again this week…….Dennis tied up with other things.

Did a bit of tidying today – fixed the bathroom fittings in Bex room and it’s almost ready for tiling.

Also half constructed as deck in the cottage so that we can store all our stuff up there out of the damp. We seem to have a huge amount of stuff scattered everywhere and more is being taken up from the Cratloe house so I thought it would help.

Edit: apparently a Sparrow Hawk…(I thought it was a Kestrel)…….

Had a bit of a shock when I went into the cottage – found a baby sparrowhawk in the kitchen.

Later found 2 trapped swallows upstairs – one was dead?á – think it flew into a window, and downstairs the remains of a swallow – feathers only so I assume he followed his dinner into the house. (and a few days later I found another chewed up swallow in the loft – nice)

Peter moved the downpipes and it looks much better in the corner. Also added a picture of the upstairs hall plastering from a different angle. (I can see you yawning…)

Plastering (16Aug09)

Getting closer to half of a house……….

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

We had a short break from plastering due to Dennis’ work commitments but back on course now – yesterday he plastered?á the?áceiling in the hall and today it took a good few buckets of cement to render Josh’s walls. Tomorrow Sue will be mixing finish coat plaster again.

There has been more progress but no pictures yet – Peter started fitting the guttering at the front of the house yesterday and continued today. The hot water pipework is also virtually finished – just need to re-attach the hot water cylinder which I removed for plastering and we can test for leaks………

All the upstairs plastering should be finished at the beginning of next week. Then it’s the final plumbing in of the bathrooms and sewerage pipes and we could have functional rooms.

Looking forward to the downstairs ceiling because it is just a straight run of board but lots to do before we get that far.?á (heating pipework, wall chasing and wiring – doesn’t sound that bad, only 3 small jobs…)
